We had Mulligatawny soup on the board today and one of our regular customers told me it reminded her of her parents. She had a far away look in her eyes and her face softened as she told Darin and I how she loves our Cabbage Rolls too because her mum used to make them. I love it when that happens and it happens a lot. So many people tell me about their grandmothers or mothers cooking and that is exactly the type of food experience I want to give them. Big blokes in work boots ordering Thick Sausages with onion gravy and mashed potatoes, smiling and telling me this is as good as dinner at mum’s. I love it!
We had Julie from 1242 Gold radio come in today because we are doing some advertising. I was telling her about this lovely part of my day and she said we are in it for the same reasons. Music and food evoke good memories. It’s true.
