We had two pumpkin dishes today and intend to have them whilst the going is good for pumpkin, which is generally during Autumn. Today we had Pumpkin Risotto and Pumpkin Soup. When I studied Macrobiotic Philosophy back in the 90’s, I learnt about the benefits of eating seasonal food. To be specific, pumpkin is good for your stomach,amongst other things.
If you look at the celebration of halloween and the carving of pumpkins, it is now for us here in the Southern Hemisphere. Pumpkins are in season now and we are entering the darker days, so it would be appropriate for us to carve pumpkins and eat them now as well. It is healthy.
